Christian Smith *Best of 2008* + Link to Live Mix at MOS

Hailing from Sweden, Christian Smith has become a techno-house mainstay. Last year he continued to surprise us with truly next level tracks such as "Flyertalk/Friendly Skies" on Bedrock and the Smith and Selway remix of Kevin Saunderson "Rock to the Beat." Carl Cox has just made Christian Smith his final Hero Of 2008. Listen to Cox’s last Global Radio Show of 2008 (26th Dec) to hear an exclusive guest mix from Christian.
Christian Smith & John Selway’s "Total Departure" (Drumcode) is one of the biggest tunes of the year around the globe...DMC Update Buzz Chart have named it the No.1 Buzz Chart Tune Of 2008; and DJ Magazine have featured it in their most explosive Top 10 Pure Club Killers Of 2008 feature, commenting: “With it’s constantly ascending keyboard whoosh, this was a peak-time, rushing dose of vertiginous euphoria. Feel the vertigo!”
Here is a link to Christian Smith's recent set at Ministry Of Sound, London, on Saturday 18th October. According to Smith, it was one of his best moments in 2008.

Bloody Beetroots "Cornelius EP"
Not wanting to oversimplify things but, Italy's Bloody Beetroots - who hide their identities behind spiderman masks - make some ill dance rock/electro/nu rave. Here is the video for Cornelius EP, which was released December 18 on Steve Aeoki's Dim Mak recordings.CORNELIUS from borntofilm on Vimeo.
French filmaker Mathieu Danet at the helms adds depth to this gritty banger, matching the tune to Beetroot Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo's attempts to make sense of the transient, fleeting fame to be had under the flashing strobe lights - and shutterbug flashbulbs - found at nightclubs and festivals everywhere. Cornelius, in other words, could be the every man/woman who you may encounter on any given night out in NYC. The track is based on Jerry Cornelius, a character made famous by British author Michael Moorcock.
Bloody Beetroots is producer/mastermind Bob Rifo and his on-stage partner Tommy Tea. Rifo is working on TBB’s highly anticipated full-length, due in Summer/Fall of 2009.

URB Magazine features Deadmau5 in Issue 156

Earlier this year, I wrote a feature on Deadmau5 for URB Magazine, which appears in issue #156.
http://www.urb.com/features/1370/Deadmau5Headspace.php
I met him in New York City on September 16, 2008 and checked him out at Cielo that night.
I thought he made such a spectacle at Ultra Music Festival last March. Now he's blown up and even got nominated for a Grammy in the Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical category for his mix of Morgan Page’s "The Longest Road."
As for the comment about whether or not I had the piece proofread, well, unless I heard wrong, Zimmerman told me it was the Xone 42, not the Xone 4D, in the transcription. Whoever should have caught that - me? Joel? URB? - well, you know...if that's going to urge you to hate on the article, maybe you're missing the bigger picture. From what I gather he is going to blow up even bigger next year.
